Age Division Rules

Team Parent

Coaches need to visit with the team parents to discuss their role.  The team parent can do a variety of things:  be time keeper during games, do a field check at the end of games, tend to trash and lost & found items, be the "keeper of the uniforms" (Players are not to take uniforms home), assist at practice, bring a water cooler for games, help with phone calls, plan a schedule of which team member is assigned to bring smacks for the team.

Under 6 (3 v. 3)

  1. Size 3 ball (One team will provide one soccer ball for game)
  2. 3 players/team on the field with no goalie
  3. Time at field:  ONE HOUR
  4. Throw-ins.  The ball is NOT to be kicked in.
  5. Substitutions at quarters (Please sub quickly so that game is about one hour!)
  6. You CAN score on a kick-off.  You cannot score on a throw-in unless ball is touched.

Under 8 (4 v. 4)

  1. Size 3 ball (one team will provide one soccer ball for game)
  2. 4 players/team on the field with no goalie.  However, fourth player can act as a defensive sweeper.
  3. Game Length:  Four 10 min qtrs. with 5 min halftime.  If game starts late, shorten qtrs.
  4. Substitutions half-way through the quarter or at quarter break.  (QUICKLY!)
  5. Throw-ins.  The ball is NOT to be kicked in.
  6. Corner kicks and goal kicks are allowed.  No penalty kicks or offside.

Under 10 (6 v. 6)

  1. Size 4 ball (Each team will provide one soccer ball for game)
  2. 6 players per team on the field including goalie.
  3. Game Length:  Two twenty five minute halves with 5-10 min halftime.
  4. Unlimited substitution with referee's permission at hallway line:  on your throw-in, either team on goal kick and after goal, free substitution at halftime break - get permission from referee to change goalie at all times.  Captain or goalie must inform referee at halftime that their team has changed goalies.
  5. Corner kicks, goal kicks, indirect and direct kicks will be enforced.  No penalty kicks, offside.
  6. No yellow cards or red cards.

Under 12 (8 v. 8)

  1. Size 4 ball (Each team will provide one soccer ball for game)
  2. 8 players per team on the field including goalie
  3. Game Length:  Two 30 min halves with 5 to 10 min halftime.
  4. Substitution:  Same as U10
  5. Corner kicks, goal kicks, indirect and direct kick, penalty kicks, and offside will be enforced.
  6. Yellow cards and red cards can be given.  NEW RULES:  Coach may substitute on yellow card, but it is not mandatory.  On goal kick, ball must be kicked from the place where ball is placed.  It cannot be picked up and moved once it has been placed.
